Notes on "Cynthia" and "Stille nach dem Schuss" from Michelle Nance

Duet:   Very nice movement invention.  Interesting dynamics, phrasing and motifs.  It is refreshingly "dancy"!  I would like to see the relationship between the two dancers developed a bit more before Shuan exits (did he exit, or is he still on stage watching you?)  What is the relationship?  He seems to be a stoic/support figure in the beginning, while you are the more expressive one.  Highlight this contrast more.  Later, Shuan dances more with you.......why does his 'character' change?  Could y'all switch roles, and you be more stoic for a while before both dancing? Look at the spacing when you are both dancing together in unison for the first time......either closer together, or one of you more downstage than the other, will give it more interest. There is a lovely sense of call-and-response happening in a few moments....could this structure be developed a bit longer? Thank you for that slow reaching gesture in unison!  So ten...
